Our animals that live outside
Outdoors you will find penguins, otters and sea lions in nice surroundings. We also have a large sea aquarium with large fish and different types of shellfish from the local area. Here you also can see training of sea lions, feeding the penguins and our two wonderful otters. At the training, the sea lions show their art and their environmental commitment. It's pretty amazing what they do in interaction with the animal keepers. On the roof terrace you will find the city's most beautiful playground with a nice sea view.
Aquariums
Our aquariums are from 500 to 150,000 liters. In other words, there are 150 tonnes of water in the largest aquariums. We adapt each individual aquarium to satisfy the needs of the different species. We are concerned that all animals and fish should have as natural living conditions as possible and at the same time be available for exploration by young and old. With us you can study a colorful and exciting range of fish, shellfish, mollusks and most species from the Norwegian marine fauna. At the same time, we also have more exotic elements with fish and other species from around the world. The world under water is boundless and there are great connections between life on a coral reef in Australia and how the fish and crabs live here in Norway.
Tropical animals
What is it about reptiles and snakes that is so fascinating (and often scary)?
Some may change color, others are deadly toxic while some may lose their tail as a defense mechanism, so it may not be that difficult to understand.
In the Tropical area you will find snakes, geckos, spiders and insects you did not know existed.
Remember a visit to the crocodile cellar where you will find our rare Philippine crocodiles.
