Experience the wonders of Bergen Aquarium!
If you're on vacation in Bergen, you might not have expected to see penguins and sea lions, but at Bergen Aquarium, you can visit more than 400 fascinating animals. The aquarium is open every day from 10am to 6pm. You'll find us in beautiful surroundings in Nordnes, a short walk or bus ride from Bergen city center.
Exotic animals and up-close encounters with ordinary creatures
From axolotls and anacondas to otters and sturgeon, you'll find both the most exotic animals at Bergen Aquarium, as well as the chance to get up close and personal with more ordinary animals and fish. Penguins and sea lions are the first animals you'll meet.
After visiting the otters, you can enter the premises and see fish, crabs, and mollusks in 60 different aquariums, which showcase life underwater. Most of the animals are from Norwegian marine fauna, but we also have more exotic fish and other species from various parts of the world. Things get even more exotic in the tropical section, which features crocodiles, turtles, snakes, and iguanas.
Things to do and things to see
Even seaweed and kelp can be exciting to see when you observe them in their underwater habitat, and there can be many impressions along the way. If the children need a break, the playground on the rooftop terrace can provide some variation and rest for the adults. Real experiences are a good break from screens for the children, but the big screen in the cinema can be nice to catch a show. We show movies eight times a day during an aquarium visit – check the program for showtimes when planning your visit.
If you've seen the penguins and sea lions get their food, you might feel a little hungry yourself – in our restaurant, Spiseriet, you'll find both light food and drink to take with you as you explore, or you can sit down and enjoy a lunch or dinner from our menu.
